Exclusive: LG UX10 tablet preview at Computex

Microsoft isn't kidding around about showing Apple it's serious in regard to competing in the tablet space, and while most of the devices surrounding its Computex booth were locked down tight, we were able to spend a few exclusive minutes with a brand new LG that showed some serious promise. Boasting a 10.1-inch LED capacity touchscreen, the UX10 was one of the most solid tablets we've had the opportunity to touch. The prototype on the floor was equipped with an Intel Atom Z530 processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, Windows 7 Home Premium, a 1.3 megapixel front-facing webcam, an SD card slot, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, a 7200mAh battery and a micro-HDMI output.

LG Ally review

You know, not every smartphone has to be putting down maxed-out hardware. That's a lesson that Nokia is certainly taking to heart, concentrating many of its latest efforts on lower-end Symbian devices that it hopes will capture entire new swaths of users that'd otherwise be buying dumbphones with half the functionality (and far less than half of the revenue potential). In the world of Android, though, recent devices like the EVO 4G, Droid, Droid Incredible, and Nexus One have admittedly caused us to grow accustomed to the idea that we should all be using blazingly fast processors and huge WVGA displays.

Xbox 360 3D gaming a reality with LG partnership

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/05/lg-xbox-360-3d-mou-600.jpg

The image above is unmistakeable: 3D gaming on an Xbox 360 with the help of an LG 3D television. It's the details that we're sorting out from LG's Korean press release. From the looks of it, LG and Microsoft have entered into a memorandum of understanding to jointly market LG's new 3D telvisions along side 3D-capable Xbox 360 games in South Korea, then later expanding throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Next iPhone to Feature 5MP Camera from LG Innotek – Report

According to a report by The Chosum libo, the next Apple iPhone 4G / HD will feature a 5-megapixels camera from LG Innotek with LED flash. We have already heard similar rumors a number of times in the past that a 5MP camera with LED flash, along with a front-facing cam for video conferencing (via iChat) will be one of the many highlights of the next iPhone.

Confirmed: LG's Moorestown-based GW990 won't be made

Considering the almost complete absence of love in the commercial marketplace for Moorestown and Moblin -- and the fact that there's no sign of MeeGo building serious momentum just yet -- we're sure that Intel would've just loved for the drop-dead-sexy GW990 to serve as the platform's crown jewel for 2010.

LG Ally to say 'aloha' to Verizon in mid-May?

Well, LG's Moorestown-based, Moblin-running GW990 may sadly be no more, but it looks like the company will be bringing another fairly impressive-looking handset to US shores: the Android-based LG Ally. According to Android Central, it will be landing on Verizon around the middle of May and, if it looks a tad familiar, it's because it's apparently simply a US version of the phone we've known alternately as the LU2300 or Aloha (though it does seem to have undergone a few design tweaks). Details are otherwise light, but it'll presumably pack the same 1GHz Snapdragon processor as the LU2300, along with a 3.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen, a sliding QWERTY keyboard, a 5-megapixel camera, and Android 2.1.

Mitsubishi Unisen LT-46249

Mitsubishi boasts unparalleled audio quality from its Unisen series of HDTVs, and the LT-46249 certainly lives up to that claim. With its massive speaker bar and wireless subwoofer, this 46-inch LCD TV produces a wall of sound that comes very close to the quality of a dedicated multi-channel speaker system. There's more to this model than just its audio prowess, however—it displays a crisp, detailed high-definition picture with spot-on colors, and it offers integrated Vudu video-streaming capabilities. I was not as impressed with its standard definition performance however, and found the remote and user interface frustrating. Also, its $2,600 price is expensive for a 46-inch non-LED set too.

Quick look: The LG GW990 and Intel's role in 'superphones'

The upcoming LG Electronics GW990 smartphone looks, and feels, like it could be a real hit when it finally gets to the market in the second half of the year.
I got to use the device briefly at International CES in Las Vegas, following a thorough demonstration of the device by Pankaj Kedia, Intel's director of global programs for smartphones. Although exact specs haven't been released yet, it looks to be about 6 inches long and 2.5 inches wide, making it longer than any smartphone I've seen or used before.
As smartphones go, it felt heavy to me, but Kedia didn't offer the actual weight. The capacitative touchscreen was instantly responsive to my touches and movements, certainly matching the ability of the popular Apple iPhone.
