Here's where you can find the World Cup soccer matches streaming online:

Nintendo 3DS in-depth preview: it works!

So, we got shuffled past a 3DS at a rapid pace this morning on our way out of the Nintendo keynote, but we've just had an opportunity to play some titles and really get a feel for the thing... and we're pretty impressed. Before we were only shown a technical demo, but at Nintendo's booth there are games, games, games. The booth was about evenly split between playable tech demos, non-playable live-rendered trailers, and regular 3D movies. Nintendo clearly is hard at work on titles for its system, and there's plenty of third party clout getting into the mix. Still, what impressed us more than the quantity was the quality. Most of the games are pretty easily on the level of iPhone 3GS graphics, and the 3D effect "just worked" on most all of them. Follow after the break for our full thoughts.

Microsoft Kinect gets official, Video Chat announced

You knew it was coming, right? Hot on the heels of getting leaked a wee bit early Microsoft has made official the rebadging of a device desperately seeking a new name: "Project Natal" is no more, replaced by Microsoft Kinect. At a circus- and celebrity-filled affair, MS wrapped everyone in high-tech panchos (pictured after the break courtesy of Joystiq) and then took the wraps off of the new title. Quite a few game demos were shown, ranging from Star Wars to tiger petting, the Kinect interface to the Dashboard was shown (said by some to be Minority Report-like), and a video chat app called, wait for it, Video Chat. Through here you can naturally talk to friends, up to four total people, and also share photos.

Panasonic announces 46-, 42-inch plasma 3DTVs for Japan

So far, Panasonic's well-reviewed (and naturally, 3D capable) 2010 V-series plasmas have been exclusively a 50-inch and above affair, but it's just announced 46- and 42-inch versions for Japan priced at ¥350,000 ($3,833) and ¥300,000 ($3,285), respectively.

Robot fish demonstrates leadership, could lead real aquatic life to safety (video)

It may look like a lobotomized coconut and a stray bit of tin foil, but Maurizio Porfiri's robot fish is something we don't see often: an attempt to naturally control wildlife. With an electroactive polymer locomotion system designed to mimic the powerful motions of fish leaders, his fake fish can trick schools of real ones to follow.

eBoy's FixPix iPhone game available now for $1.99 (video)

It's out! eBoy's $1.99 FixPix iPhone game christened "the greatest game ever made" by a certain Engadget fanboy is available now from the iTunes App Store. If you fail to understand the value of piecing together eBoy pixel art by manipulating the iPhone's accelerometer, then gawd help you... you're already dead. Gameplay video after the break.

AT&T warns customer that emailing the CEO will result in a cease and desist letter

Sure, Steve Jobs might be a one-man email PR machine, but his pal Randall Stephenson at AT&T doesn't appear to be quite as gregarious -- as reader Giorgio Galante found out today, sending AT&T's CEO two emails in two weeks results in a phone call from AT&T's Executive Response Team and a warning that further emails will result in a cease and desist letter.

Steve Jobs live from D8

7:58PM And that's that! Time for dinner! Thanks for reading!

7:57PM Q: In the phone area you were able to partner with a carrier... would you do that with TV?

A: Well then there's a problem, providers are local... it's a Tower of Babel problem....

Kara: Everyone, Steve Jobs!

GPS-based air traffic control system to go live by 2020

GPS-based air traffic control system to go live by 2020

If you've ever watched an investigative journalism show that exposes things you didn't know you had to worry about, there's a good chance you've seen footage of the archaic green-screens in use at airport towers across the country paired with shocking headlines like "Hidden Airport Menace" or "Glidepath to Danger." Plans to replace that tech are finally in motion, with the FAA indicating its new air traffic control system will to go into effect by 2020, possibly as early as 2015.

Entelligence: Hello WebTV part II

Entelligence is a column by technology strategist and author Michael Gartenberg, a man whose desire for a delicious cup of coffee and a quality New York bagel is dwarfed only by his passion for tech. In these articles, he'll explore where our industry is and where it's going -- on both micro and macro levels -- with the unique wit and insight only he can provide.

In a world of connected screens it's sometimes hard to classify what's what. I mean, what's a PC? We call smartphones "phones," but the reality is they're tiny PCs that go in our pocket.

OpenWays makes your smartphone a hotel room key, provides a different kind of 'unlock'

For years now, hotel chains have been toying with alternative ways to letting patrons check-in, access their room and run up their bill with all-too-convenient in-room services. Marriott began testing smartphone check-ins way back in 2006, and select boutique locations (like The Plaza Hotel in New York and Boston's Nine Zero) have relied on RFID, iris scanners, biometric identifiers and all sorts of whiz-bang entry methods in order to make getting past a lock that much easier (or harder, depending on perspective).

Sony PSN+ rumors thicken for E3: new features for paid users, free users can still play online

Our BFFs over at Joystiq have what seems to be a pretty solid line on PSN+, with multiple sources verifying features mostly in line with what was gleaned from that survey last year. Lucky for us, most of the features seem to have to do with giving new features to paying users, instead of taking away functionality from the existing free service.

SED's dead baby: Canon abandons development of new HDTVs, we take a look back

Oh, surface-conduction electron-emitter display (SED). We still remember the halcyon days of 2005 when we first laid eyes upon your black as a CRT / thin as a plasma or LCD self, and equally recognize the pain of each false start and delay that followed, each leading up to today's announcement by Canon that it is abandoning SED HDTVs entirely.

2011 Audi A8 gets factory-installed wireless hotspot option

We'd heard that the 2011 Audi A8 would be getting a UMTS modem in mid-2010 to help with things like Google Earth, and it looks like Audi has now delivered that and more -- it's just announced that the car is the first anywhere to be available with a factory-installed WLAN hotspot option.

Scientists Create Synthetic Organism

Heralding a potential new era in biology, scientists for the first time have created a synthetic cell, completely controlled by man-made genetic instructions, researchers at the private J. Craig Venter Institute announced Thursday.

Anybots QB Robot is a Telepresence for the 21st Century

That robot standing over your shoulder is not waiting to grab you by the ears and tear you asunder. In fact, in Anybots' vision, its new QB mobile telepresence robot is simply checking in. To be fair, the robot isn't checking anything at all. It's your telecommuting boss, hundreds of miles away, who's checking up on you through QB.
Unveiled Tuesday, this 5-foot, 9-inch, 32 lb rolling bot, combines a computer, the Internet, mobility, and some self-awareness and autonomy to replace the frequent phone calls, instant messages, and even some video conference calls that distant co-workers have to make to stay in touch and keep on top of work and ongoing projects.

The Best Portable Document Scanners

Portable scanners let you scan and manage receipts, business cards, and other documents while on the road.
With the aid of a portable scanner, business travelers can easily manage receipts, business cards, and any other documents or scraps of paper they need to digitize. Many of today's mobile scanners include advanced features traditionally found on desktop document scanners, such as duplexing and/or an automatic document feeder (ADF).
