Nintendo 3DS in-depth preview: it works!

 

So, we got shuffled past a 3DS at a rapid pace this morning on our way out of the Nintendo keynote, but we've just had an opportunity to play some titles and really get a feel for the thing... and we're pretty impressed. Before we were only shown a technical demo, but at Nintendo's booth there are games, games, games. The booth was about evenly split between playable tech demos, non-playable live-rendered trailers, and regular 3D movies. Nintendo clearly is hard at work on titles for its system, and there's plenty of third party clout getting into the mix. Still, what impressed us more than the quantity was the quality. Most of the games are pretty easily on the level of iPhone 3GS graphics, and the 3D effect "just worked" on most all of them. Follow after the break for our full thoughts.

Nintendo Wii Goes Black; Gets MotionPlus, Wii Sports Resort as Standard Equipment

There really hasn't been much news coming from Nintendo on the Wii front. The console got a price drop to $199.99 in September of last year, and has been cruising along ever since.
Today, however, Nintendo has announced a new bundle for the North American market. The Wii will now pack not only the Wii itself, a remote, nunchuk, and Wii Sports, but it will also come bundled with a copy of Wii Sports Resort and a MotionPlus adapter. Despite the addition of Wii Sports Resort and MotionPlus, the price still remains unchanged at $199.99.

Netflix Streaming Via Wii Coming Really Soon

It's no secret that Netflix has been gearing up to stream movies and TV shows via the Nintendo Wii console, but now it appears the launch is near. Netflix today announced that it has shipped instant-streaming discs to some of members for testing. "Their feedback will ensure that we deliver a great experience to everyone when we launch," writes company spokesperson Jessie Becker on The Netflix Blog.
