Samsung Rogue explodes due to crushed battery

Gizmodo has published a first-hand account of its reader who says his Samsung Rogue exploded in his face. He gives a complete account of the incident, which makes it somewhat obvious that the phone’s explosion was due to the malfunctioning of the battery.

As I sat down in the driver’s seat of my car, the phone fell in between the seat and the center console. (Isn’t that the worst!) After unsuccessfully trying to retrieve it by the tips of my fingers, I got out of the car and moved my seat up. (Infiniti G35 Coupe) The reason for giving you the make of the car is that the seats automatically slide forward when lifting the lever.
While the user is promised to get a new handset from Verizon, many commenters in the original post have pointed out that the explosion occurred mainly because of the automatic sliding of the seat causing the battery to crush and hence, explode.
